George Armstrong Custer

General George Armstrong Custer was commander of the Michigan Brigade and a popular hero in the Civil War. Custer is atop a magnificent rearing horse. He is wearing his own distinctive uniform; sailor- collar, half covered in gold embroidery, red neckerchief and a broad brimmed, black felt hat. He is accompanied by his mounted guidon bearer carrying Custer's red over blue, crossed sabers guidon. Here is Custer in his glory days - - before he became the fated "Son of the Morning Star".
